North Wilkes High School
The original school building, built in the 1950s, was restructured in 2006, to be replaced with new wings. New classrooms connecting the school together were built. The "new school" consists of three levels, the downstairs used for ROTC and Physical Education classes, the groundfloor used for math, and the upstairs used for science and English classes. One wing of the old school remains, which includes the cafeteria.
Athletics — North Wilkes High School supports varsity teams for the following sports: men's/women's basketball, football, men's baseball, wrestling, women's softball, women's volleyball, men's/women's soccer, men's/women's tennis, cross country, track and field, and swimming. The school's mascots are the Vikings; the school's colors are Royal Blue, White, and Red. North Wilkes competes in the Mountain Valley Athletic Conference conference on the 2A level of athletics in North Carolina. The football field "Raner Wiles Stadium" is the home of the planned addition of Doc's Wall and Thompson's Station. |
